Terms & Conditions

To support the Manitoba Arts Network’s (MAN) mandate of promoting artists from rural and Northern Manitoba, the following terms apply to all artists selected through this call.
1. Eligibility
  • The Artist must currently reside in rural or Northern Manitoba, defined as any community outside the city of Winnipeg.
  • The Artist must be 18 years or older.
  • The Artist must be the creator and rights holder of all submitted work.
2. Manitoba Arts Network Membership (Upon Acceptance)
  • If selected, the Artist will need an active Manitoba Arts Network (MAN) membership to confirm participation. If you’re not currently a member, you can join once you receive your acceptance.
  • Membership is not required to apply.
3. Originality and Non-Plagiarized Work
  • Only original, non-plagiarized artwork will be considered.
  • The Artist confirms they have the right to exhibit and sell the work submitted.
4. Generative AI and Third-Party Source Material
  • Submitted work must not include AI-generated imagery or elements created using generative software (unless explicitly permitted in a specific program stream stated in the call).
  • If work is based on reference material the Artist did not create (for example, a photograph taken by someone else), the Artist must have written permission and be able to provide it upon request.
5. Solo Artist or Collective
  • The Artist must indicate whether they are applying as a solo artist or as a collective.
  • If applying as a collective, one person must be identified as the primary contact.
  • For a collective, at least 80% of the artists included must be based in rural or northern Manitoba.

6. Exhibition Formats: Wall-Based and Plinth-Based Work
  • This call is for wall-based and/or plinth-based work.
  • If the Artist’s work is plinth-based only, MAN/210 Gallery may pair the Artist with a wall-based artist for the same exhibition period, to support a balanced installation.
  • The gallery may limit quantities or select specific works based on layout, safety, and available display infrastructure.
7. Artwork Readiness and Display Requirements
  • All selected work must be in exhibition-ready condition.
  • Wall work must arrive ready to hang with secure hardware (for example: D-rings + wire, strap hangers, etc.).
  • Work must be compatible with the gallery’s Lee Valley Cliprail Picture-Hanging System (Zipper Pro hooks).
  • Plinth work must be stable and suitable for public display. If special display needs exist (such as power needs), the Artist must disclose these in advance.
8. Pricing and Sales
  • 80% of the exhibited work must be for sale.
  • The gallery retains 30% commission on sales.
  • Artists set the Sale Price of their work.
  • Payment to the Artist is calculated as: Sale Price – 30% Commission = Artist Payment.
  • Sales are handled on a consignment basis; no additional exhibition fee is paid unless explicitly stated.
9. Delivery and Pick-Up
  • Artists are responsible for ensuring work arrives safely and on time.
  • Free delivery support through Gardewine may be available for eligible shipments (details, timelines, and pickup points will be shared with selected artists).
  • Artists are responsible for packing work securely for transport and for any special crating/packing needs.
  • Artists are responsible for picking up unsold work (or arranging return shipping) by the stated deadline after the exhibition ends.

10. Installation and De-installation Responsibilities
  • Selected artists are responsible for installing and taking down their own exhibition, with support from MAN/210 Gallery staff as available.
  • Artists must follow gallery standards for safe installation and may be asked to adjust layout for safety, accessibility, or facility limitations.
  • Any specialized installation requirements must be discussed and approved before final confirmation.
11. Group Shows and Matching Option
  • The call may include an option to be considered for a group exhibition or to be matched with another artist.
  • Indicating interest does not guarantee a match, but it allows MAN/210 Gallery to consider groupings for certain time slots.
12. Selection Process
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee selection.
  • MAN reserves the right to select work based on artistic merit, feasibility, exhibition balance, scheduling fit, and gallery capacity.
  • MAN may request additional information, images, or clarification before final decisions are made.
13. Marketing and Documentation
  • The Artist agrees to allow MAN/210 Gallery to use submitted images and basic information (name, title, medium, community) for promotion and documentation of the exhibition.
  • Photo/video documentation may occur during installation, receptions, or public hours.
14. Accessibility and Questions
  • MAN is always looking for ways to make this call accessible. If any terms or requirements don’t work for you, please reach out: marketing@mbartsnet.ca
