Sustainable Action: The Gourd Reimagined

Eco-Friendly Mushroom Sculpture Workshop

Saturday, April 25
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Free to attend

Registration required
Limited to 15 participants

Join artist Jerry Maryniuk for a hands-on workshop where participants will transform home-grown gourds into whimsical mushroom sculptures using thoughtfully sourced natural materials.

Connected to WAVE Action, this workshop explores creative making through an ecological lens. Using dried gourds grown and prepared by the artist, participants will build their own sculptural mushroom step by step, from selecting forms and assembling components to adding finishing details and mounting the piece on a natural wood base.

Each sculpture becomes a small study in reuse, cultivation, and care. The workshop invites participants to think about how art can grow from materials already around us, and how making can be both imaginative and environmentally conscious.

All tools and materials are provided. By the end of the session, each participant will take home a completed mushroom sculpture approximately 25 to 30 cm high.
