About the Exhibition
Making a Mark brings together work by the Drawn Together Collective, a group of women artists based primarily in Western Manitoba.
The exhibition looks at the many ways we leave traces of ourselves behind. Through image, material, gesture, memory, and process, the artists explore how we create meaning in our lives and how those marks become part of what we share with others.
At its heart, Making a Mark is about presence. It asks what it means to leave proof that we were here, that we felt something, made something, followed a thought, carried a story, or shaped a piece of the world in our own way.
The exhibition reflects the idea that we are all mark makers. Some marks are visible. Some are quiet. Some are left through art, care, memory, place, or connection.

About the Drawn Together Collective
Formed in 2014, Drawn Together supports rural women artists, primarily based in Western Manitoba. The collective creates space for artists to share ideas, build confidence, develop their practices, and stay connected across distance.
Members work in a variety of media and come from different artistic backgrounds, both formal and informal. Individually, they have participated in solo and group exhibitions across Western Canada and internationally. Several members have received support from the Manitoba Arts Council and Canada Council, taken part in mentorship programs, won awards, instructed workshops, volunteered in their arts communities, and contributed to the growth of rural arts in Manitoba.
Since its beginning, Drawn Together has mounted several exhibitions across Manitoba, including at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, Mennonite Heritage Gallery, Turtle Mountain Arts in Killarney, and other locations.
