Sustainable Action: The Gourd Reimagined
Eco-Friendly Mushroom Sculpture
with Jerry Maryniuk
Saturday, April 25, 2026
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Registration opening soon
Turn a home-grown gourd into a whimsical mushroom sculpture in this hands-on workshop celebrating ecological making and creative action.
Participants will create a sculptural mushroom using dried gourds cultivated and prepared by the artist. Guided step by step, you will select from a range of naturally grown forms, cut and assemble the gourd shapes, glue components, and refine your piece using simple finishing techniques. Each sculpture will be mounted on a base cut from pruned local tree limbs, with materials thoughtfully sourced from seasonal garden maintenance and repurposed into art.
Working entirely with renewable, home-grown materials, this workshop offers a creative approach rooted in care, stewardship, and low-waste making. All tools and materials are provided.
At the end of the session, you will take home your completed mushroom sculpture, approximately 25 to 30 cm high.
